BioComputing

Services

Services provided at no additional cost to the client

Microsoft Windows (Win2k/WinXP) systems

  • Initial system setup and configuration
  • Software/Application setup and configuration (commercial applications only)
  • Domain based user management (managed systems only)
  • System administration and management (managed systems only)
  • Hardware and Software maintenance (labor only)
  • All hardware, software and consumables must be purchased by the client

Apple Macintosh systems

  • Initial system setup and configuration
  • Software/Application setup and configuration (commercial applications only)
  • Hardware and Software maintenance (labor only)
  • All hardware, software and consumables must be purchased by the client

UNIX systems

  • Initial system setup and configuration
  • Software/Application setup and configuration (commercial applications only)
  • System administration and management (managed systems only)
  • Hardware and Software maintenance (labor only)
  • All hardware, software and consumables must be purchased by the client

Servers (located in the BioComputing server room)

  • Initial system setup and configuration
  • Software/Application setup and configuration (commercial applications only)
  • System administration and management (managed systems only)
  • Hardware and Software maintenance (labor only)
  • System and data backup (labor only)
  • All hardware, software, tools and consumables must be purchased by the client

Computer Labs (managed systems in the bio domain)

  • We will provide the same level of service to computer labs as we do for individual systems
  • One domain based user account and network folder for each class; must be requested by the faculty member responsible for the class, 30 days in advance
  • Requests for Service must be initiated by the departmental office, of the responsible department.  We do not accept Requests for Service, relative to departmental computer labs, from students or teaching assistants
  • Software/Applications required for teaching labs must be requested 30 days in advance
  • All lab hardware, software and consumables must be purchased by the client
  • All hardware, software, and tools required to manage the lab must be purchased by the client

Web services (Microsoft Internet Information Server only)

  • One web for each department (content is the clients responsibility)
  • One personal web and one lab web for faculty (content is the clients responsibility)
  • One web for research centers (content is the clients responsibility)
  • 50 Megs disk space for each web (subject to availability, additional costs may apply)
  • Backup services for webs hosted on our servers (labor only)

User services

  • One domain based user account for each faculty member
  • One additional domain based user account for each faculty members lab
  • One domain based user account and network folder for each course, using the computer labs

File services

  • One network folder for each department
  • One network folder for each faculty and staff member
  • One additional network folder for each faculty members lab use
  • One network folder for each class account
  • 250 Megs disk space for each user (subject to availability, additional costs may apply)
  • Backup for user data hosted on our servers (labor only)
  • All consumables must be purchased by the client

Mail services

  • One Lotus Notes mail account for each faculty and staff member
  • Local user mail agent setup and support

Services provided at additional cost to the client ($50/hr)

  • Training (as time permits, best effort)
  • Non-commercial (custom) software/application setup and configuration (as time permits, best effort)
  • MicroSoft FrontPage web development (as time permits, best effort)
  • Program/application development and troubleshooting (as time permits, best effort)
  • Application support/training (as time permits, best effort)
  • Off-site server support (servers not located in the BioComputing server room)
  • Off-site desktop computer support (computers not located in the proximity of the hill)
